Drug Free “MigreLief-NOW” – All New, Fast-Acting, As-Needed!

SUFFERING WITH MIGRAINE PAIN AND NEED HELP NOW?

Do you take pain medication or off-the-shelf headache medication to help manage your migraine pain just so you can make it through the day? You now have a safe drug-free fast-acting alternative!

INTRODUCING “MigreLief-NOW An all new dietary supplement that can be taken AS NEEDED for cerebral support during difficult times.

For migraine sufferers, the battle against migraines seems endless and it takes everything they’ve got to shore up and courageously battle on. Life’s obligations don’t cease when one feels down for the count as so often pressure and worry compound the pain.

Towards our goal of empowering migraine and headache sufferers with an arsenal of nutritional options for battling migraines, Akeso Health Sciences is pleased to announce the release of our new supplement for migraine sufferers, MigreLief-NOW – formulated to provide on-the-spot, as-needed nutritional support when a migraine or headache sufferer needs it most… NOW!

A Note from Curt Hendrix, M.S., C.C.N., C.N.S., – Chief Science Officer, Akeso Health Sciences, and creator of MigreLief

WHY MULTIPLE MIGRELIEF FORMULAS?

4 migraine-relief formulas As a migraine and headache sufferer, you may wonder why Akeso offers several different nutritional migraine supplement formulations to help you maintain healthy cerebrovascular tone and function.

We are all uniquely different in how we respond to things, be it food, movies, beauty, humor, medicines and even supplements. THERE IS NO “ONE SIZE FITS ALL” IN MEDICINE OR EVEN NUTRITION!

For example, some people may do well on a low carbohydrate, high protein diet while others may develop dyspepsia, (stomach upset), fatigue or a host of other side-effects.

Certainly this is the case for prescription medicines that physicians offer to their patients.  Quite frequently a physician may have a patient switch antibiotics because the first one didn’t work or caused intolerable side-effects.

We are fortunate that physicians have options from which to choose when one drug just doesn’t agree with or work for someone. This applies in all areas of medicine and that’s why multiple drugs exist for the same condition, disease or illness such as high cholesterol, depression, blood pressure, asthma, diabetes or even cancer, just to name a few.

The same logic applies to dietary supplements. Even though a majority of MigreLief users experience significant benefits with the patent protected MigreLief formulas, some sufferers still need additional help and options to get their lives under control.

This is why we never stop researching at Akeso Health Sciences. We keep asking ourselves “How can we do better?” “How can we help the people who still need help?”

It is for this reason that we have developed and added MigreLief-NOW to the MigreLief line of migraine supplements.

MigreLief–NOW, is a new option for those unpredictable times when fast-acting, on-the-spot support is needed to help maintain normal and healthy cerebrovascular function.

INGREDIENTS: Puracol Feverfew, Aflapin Boswellia Serrata, Cerevasc Ginger and Magnesium.  Vegetarian.

Does NOT contain: Aspirin, caffeine, yeast, wheat, corn, milk, gluten, soy, salt, artificial colorings or flavorings.  Vegetarian.

These ingredients have been shown in human clinical studies to have numerous health benefits including benefits for migraine and headache sufferers.

RECOMMENDED USAGE:  Take 2-4 MigreLief-NOW capsules as needed with food, at the first sign of discomfort. Wait 2 hours and if needed, 2 more capsules can be taken.

Half of the adult dose can be given to children between the ages 2-11.

MigreLief-NOW can be taken at any time with any other migraine treatments, including all other MigreLief formulas.

Note:  If you suffer several migraines each month, MigreLief-NOW is not meant to replace daily MigreLief  maintenance formulas.

In addition to taking MigreLief-NOW as-needed during difficult periods, if you are currently using a MigreLief daily formula; MigreLief Original Formula, Children’s MigreLief or MigreLief+M, and feel you need additional daily support, you may add 2 MigreLief-NOW capsules a day to your morning dose (1 for children between age 1-11).

An Effective Nutritional Option
MigreLief has been the supplement of choice for many people since 1997, many of whom were introduced to MigreLief through their neurologists or other healthcare professionals.

More and more migraine sufferers are becoming increasingly aware of the need to maintain healthy and normal cerebrovascular tone and function. (“Cerebrovascular” refers to the blood vessels that supply the brain.)

Triple Therapy ingredients (3 mechanisms of action)

MigreLief contains ingredients to help you to maintain the normal cerebrovascular function you have on non-migraine days. (MigreLief Ingredients)

**Puracol® Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) is Akeso Health Sciences’ proprietary combination of whole leaf feverfew and a unique feverfew extract containing a broad spectrum of naturally occurring beneficial phytochemicals (plant compounds).  Feverfew supports proper cerebrovascular tone and function and inhibits platelet aggregation (clumping together of blood platelets)  that can otherwise lead to changing blood vessel sizes (vasoconstriction & vasodilation) or spasms.*

Magnesium—(citrate and oxide)  is a nutritional supplement with numerous effects that support cerebrovascular tone. These include:

1) inhibition of platelet aggregation

2) interference with synthesis, release, and action of inflammatory mediators

3) direct alterations of cerebrovascular tone

4) inhibition of vasospasm

5) stabilization of cell membranes.

Some migraine sufferers with poor cerebrovascular tone have been found to have low brain levels of magnesium. Recommended daily dosages of magnesium typically range from 200 to 600 mg to compensate for this deficiency, far above what’s found in most multi-vitamins. Several double-blind placebo-controlled studies have demonstrated that oral magnesium is of nutritional benefit to migraine sufferers both adults and children.*

Riboflavin (vitamin B-2)—supports healthy mitochondrial function in brain cells.  Lack of mitochondrial ATP production in nerve cells can lower your threshold for migraine triggers. So, mitochondrial dysfunction in your brain and nervous system can make you more susceptible. to improve mitochondrial energy deficiencies*

90 Day Build-Up Period

[Study] Aerobic Fitness for Decreased Migraines?

A study published in the International Journal of Sports Medicine found that increasing aerobic fitness can actually decrease the number of migraines you suffer and the intensity of the ones that do occur.

Researchers from the Institute of Medical Psychology at the University Clinic of Kiel, in Germany, studied the effects of a 10-week aerobic running exercise program on chronic migraine sufferers. The participants ran 3 times per week.

8 chronic migraine sufferers did not participate in the running/fitness program and 8 sufferers did participate.  In the sufferers that participated compared to the sufferers who didn’t, there was a:

1. A reduction in the number of migraine days per month

2. A reduction in the intensity of the attacks

3. A reported decrease in stress levels

Before, starting any new exercise program, it is recommended you check with your physician as to the safety of such a program for you.  This study shows that starting a running program, even at modest speeds and for just minutes a day, as you build up your fitness level, you will experience decreases in the number and intensity of migraines you experience.

It is suggested that if running is too strenuous for you, or if you have physical limitations that make running difficult, that you start with brisk walking, at a challenging pace, for 20 minutes a day, working yourself up to 30 minutes and at an ever increasing pace.

Avoid Spring Migraines

The brain of migraineurs likes consistency. Many factors change with the seasons and influence migraines.   Changes in sleep patterns, light, air pressure, temperature, humidity, and fragrances, can all increase the frequency and tendency of migraines.

Beware of hotter days. A team of researchers at Harvard found that an increase in temperatures occurred 24 hours before increases in admissions to emergency rooms for treatment of migraines.   There is not much a patient can do to control the weather or avoid warm temperatures or changes in barometric pressure, therefore it is important to be vigilant about managing other triggers such as sleep and diet.  Avoid well-known food triggers, and drastic changes in your sleep pattern if you can.  It is also very important to stay well hydrated and to avoid strenuous outdoor activities or exercise during times of the day when it’s excessively warm or humid.

Spring is allergy season, and for many people, sinus or allergy headaches can lead to migraines.

Tips to avoid “Spring” migraines:

1.  To avoid airborne allergens in your home, clean or change A/C filters
2.  If you are allergy-prone, make sure your allergy meds are handy.
3.  With higher temperatures, dehydration occurs even if we don’t feel dehydrated. Dehydration is a big cause of migraines. Drink lots of water

4. Stick with a sleep schedule, try to go to bed at the same time as much as possible, and determine what number of hours is best for you. Both too little and too much sleep can increase migraine risk.

5. Light (photophobia) is a major contributor to migraine risk. Purchase a polarized, high-grade pair of sunglasses and wear a hat with a brim to keep out even more light.

6. Be careful of new fragrances that you introduce not only in perfumes but moisturizers as well.

Follow these tips, use your Migrelief daily, keep fast-acting MigreLief-NOW on hand for emergencies, and enjoy the fun and beauty of Spring.

The Anti-Migraine Diet

If you suffer from migraines, you know how much stress can contribute to certain attacks.  Of course illness can add to the stress of everyday life, so it makes sense, that the stronger our immune systems are in resisting illness, the less stress we will be exposed to, as well.

Therefore eating a diet that contains foods that can reduce stress and enhance our immune systems, will not only increase our over-all wellness levels, but may also reduce the number and intensity of migraines that occur. (and possibly other types of headaches too.)

When under stress we seek “comfort” and many people see comfort in foods that have high levels of carbs.  Carbs increase the synthesis of serotonin, a feel good neurotransmitter.  But carbs can also raise blood sugar quickly. So instead of simple carbs that are found in most desserts, switch to more complex carb food sources, like “oatmeal” or “whole grain breads” which increase serotonin levels but don’t spike blood sugar levels.

Also when we are under stress, stress-related hormones like cortisol and adrenaline can increase. Magnesium containing foods like spinach and fish like salmon, which are high in omega-3 fatty acids can keep stress hormones under control.  Some research indicates that black tea and pistachio nuts can reduce stress-hormones and make you feel calmer.  Coffee, on the other hand, can increase cortisol levels.

Nuts like almonds and walnuts contain B-Vitamins (which are stress vitamins) and vitamin E, which bolsters the immune system.  1/4 to 1/2 cup per day is sufficient.

Oranges can both reduce stress hormone levels as well as enhance the immune system due to their vitamin C content. I would also suggest a vitamin C supplement containing 500-1000mg a day.
Vitamin A significantly supports the immune system. Foods containing Vitamin A are:
Apricots, asparagus, beet greens, broccoli, carrots, cantaloupe, collards. A glass of carrot juice 3 times a week would assure vitamin A sufficiency. Plus this vitamin protects eye sight, particularly at night.

Finally, dehydration and constipation, stress the body and threaten the immune system, so water and fiber are crucial parts of your diet.

Please be sure to drink plenty of water every day, especially when you start adding fibrous foods to your diet. Consuming fiber without water can actually cause constipation rather than prevent it. So here are some examples of high fiber foods:

  1. Baked beans, kidney beans, split peas, dried limas, garbanzos, pinto beans and black beans
  2. Bran cereals – Bran Buds and All-Bran
  3. Fresh or frozen lima beans, both Fordhook and baby lima
  4. Fresh or frozen green peas
  5. Dried fruit, topped by figs, apricots and dates
  6. Raspberries, blackberries and strawberries
  7. Sweet corn, whether on the cob or cut off in kernels
  8. Whole-wheat and other whole-grain cereal products. Rye, oats, buckwheat and stone-ground cornmeal are all high in fiber. Bread, pastas, pizzas, pancakes and muffins made with whole-grain flours.
  9. Broccoli-very high in fiber!
  10. Baked potato with the skin (The skin when crisp is the best part for fiber.) Mashed and boiled potatoes are good too, but not French fries, which contain a high percentage of fat
  11. Green snap beans, pole beans, and broad beans
  12. Plums, pears, and apples
  13. Raisins and prunes
  14. Greens including spinach, beet greens, kale, collards, Swiss chard and turnip greens
  15. Nuts, especially almonds, Brazil nuts, peanuts, and walnuts
  16. Cherries
  17. Bananas
  18. Carrots
  19. Coconuts
  20. Brussels sprouts
  21. Flax seed, which can be added to smoothies or sprinkled on your fruit or on yogurt.

Try to work some of the foods from each category into your daily diet. Of course, don’t take any of these recommended foods, if you feel that they trigger your migraines. This helpful guide is just a guide, not a rule book. Your experience is the truth that you need to follow.

For those of you who suffer with chronic migraines, using these food choices to help prevent your migraines is a wise decision.  So is the decision to prevent your migraines rather than spending a lifetime taking pills to just treat the pain that always comes back with your next migraine.

Towards this end, if you suffer with chronic migraines go to www.migrelief.com to learn about the most successful, all-natural supplement that has helped tens of thousands of sufferers take back control of their lives.

Understanding Your Migraine Pain

Pain experience is individual.  Everyone experiences pain differently, due to so many varying factors. Your current state of health, including whether or not other diseases are present, childhood experiences, mood, environment, and previous experiences of pain are all factors in how you experience pain now.

Pain is only good as a warning. According to the Institute of Medicine’s recently released study, “While pain sometimes can serve as a warning sign that protects individuals from further harm, chronic pain is harmful and impairs productivity and quality of life,” as you well know. In the same study (Relieving Pain in America, 2011), 85% of migraine sufferers had at least one significant medical condition (besides the headaches), and 15% of sufferers also reported major depression.

Pain hurts in more ways than one. Pain can produce psychological and cognitive effects — anxiety, depression, and anger. Anxiety occurs because of fear of the recurring pain, depression from the feeling of not being able to escape the pain, and anger at having to deal with the pain in the first place. If allowed to persist, acute pain can become chronic pain which makes physical changes in your body. Pain can become a disease in its own right, and ultimately, it can result in a dysfunction in your central nervous system (CNS).

recurring headaches

Are you progressing toward CNS dysfunction? If you suffer from frequent migraines, you may recognize the beginnings of such dysfunction in the form of shadow pain, more frequent headaches, or more triggers from sources which were previously quite benign for you. You may feel as though you live in a frustrating and increasingly hostile world from which you desire to retreat. Your work, and thus your livelihood, may be impacted or threatened by frequent absences. The ball rolls on, continuing to take its toll on even your basic enjoyment of life. “Research,” reports the IOM study, “has shown quality of life [for migraine sufferers] to be inversely proportional to the frequency of migraine occurrence.”

Prevention is crucial. This is why pain management and the role of prevention is so crucial to restoring quality of life for the migraineur. While the medical community currently focuses on abortives (medications to rid the sufferer of immediate pain) and palliation (making one comfortable in the midst of pain), the IOM stresses the importance of understanding triggers, conditions, and causes of the pain, along with preventive treatments, in order to eliminate the outcomes of chronic pain — that physiological change that occurs with chronic suffering.

You can stop pain’s progress. The good news is that even if those changes have already occurred, there are measures you can take to reverse the changes. Although it will be a difficult path, the reward is stopping the progress of chronic pain as disease, healing your body, and drastically reducing the incidence, and even possibly the complete cessation of the headaches.

If your headaches have not progressed to point of morbidity, you can take measures to prevent your headaches from progressing from acute to chronic.

If you are currently a chronic migraine sufferer, you too, are a great fit for migraine prevention.

The Road to Preventing Migraines

The most important step to lifelong migraine relief is prevention. Prevention includes understanding and resolving the underlying cause(s) of the headaches. This helps one to avoid the environment or the set of triggers for headache pain to occur in the first place, or, having experienced pain in its acute form, to prevent the pain from becoming chronic.

Migraines can be prevented.  NPR (National Public Radio) published a June 2012 article about the fact that there are migraine preventives, but their statistics show that only between 3 and 13% of people use preventives. According to conventional medicine, 38% of migraines can be prevented. Natural medicine practitioners know that many more than that can be prevented.

Dr. Jamie Von Roenn and her associates said in 1993, “For at least two decades, most major medical journals and the lay media have recognized that many patients have needless pain.” Dr. Von Roenn has been a pioneer in palliative (pain relief) medicine. Another decade has passed since she made that statement.

Migraine experience is individual. Despite many years of research and observation, the medical community has never “officially” determined exactly what causes migraines. Part of that is due to the individual nature of the experience. While there are common triggers, symptoms, and patterns, the underlying cause is extremely complex and individual. The most that the medical community has been able to determine concretely is that the majority of migraineurs have a family history of migraineurs. Fully 85% of migraine sufferers have a family member who also suffers or has suffered from migraines.

Lack of scientific determinates, however, does NOT prevent a fuller understanding of the phenomena by both user and intuitive practitioner. (Use of the term “intuitive” here implies any member of the medical community who applies intuition and analysis, in addition to empirical knowledge, in order to understand a medical phenomenon.)

There are several avenues toward prevention.  You are your own best advocate. Only you know how you experience your migraine pain. Only you have the key to your personal headache “structure,” all of the elements that go into creating your migraines. According to the 2011 IOM (Institute of Medicine) study, a gamut of “upstream” influences shape conditions and behaviors that produce or exacerbate disease, in this case, your pain. It appears that, although there may be specific pain triggers, that the entire milieu surrounding your migraines may be more complex.

Commit to the discovery process. Prevention requires work, self-study and analysis, and a willingness to apply what is learned. The ultimate goal, of course, is to eradicate the headaches entirely, but how does one do that if they keep occurring during the discovery process, and they begin to escalate? One answer is to treat with a preventive remedy while working to discover the root causes. While the easiest thing may be to take an abortive (something to stop the pain), abortives are rarely natural, and side-effect pharmaceutical abortives may cause far more problems than they solve.

Consider starting with MigreLief – The immediate goal is to reduce the incidence of the migraines. Cutting migraines by half, say from a dozen migraines a month down to six or three is huge. The triple therapy of MigreLief can help achieve this, and can possibly eliminate them all together. Using MigreLief during the discovery process could stop your headaches from progressing, enabling you to concentrate more on finding and eliminating causes.

Migraines should not be a lifestyle. Take control, consider prevention over treating the symptoms of migraine pain for life.

FAQS

Pain Pills and Serious Health Issues – Are You At Risk?

Can the pain pills you take for your headaches and migraines, menstrual pain, back aches and arthritis put you at risk for liver damage/failure, kidney damage, increased stroke risk, bleeding, ulcers, hearing loss cardio vascular risk and certain types of cancer?

The answer is a resounding “YES.”

Tens of millions of people suffer chronically from pain caused by migraine headaches, arthritis or other pain causing conditions.  Tens of millions of people take pain pills every day, every week or every month and run the risk of significant damage to their short and long term health.

pain medications

Just recently the FDA announced that just taking the maximum allowed dose of acetaminophen for two weeks could cause significant liver damage. It is widely known that aspirin can cause bleeding, ulcers, and many feel that unless you have already had a heart attack, the risk of taking it daily even at the baby aspirin dose of 81 mg outweighs the rewards.

Ibuprofen and Naproxen

Ibuprofen and Naproxen – Nevertheless, frequent NSAID use can contribute to a number of issues. Perhaps the most common medical problem arising from chronic NSAID use is gastritis, or inflammation of the lining of the stomach. NSAIDs decrease the body’s ability to create a natural protective layer between the lining of the stomach and stomach acid. Without this protection gastric acid can damage the stomach and lead to pain and inflammation. Another frequent effect of chronic heavy NSAID use is damage to the kidneys. NSAIDs can decrease blood flow to the kidneys and over time lead to loss of function. If you are using ibuprofen every day to help control headaches, paradoxically the medicine itself may actually be contributing to them through a process called medication overuse headache (rebound headache).

A study published in the journal, Circulation 2011, examined the effect of ibuprofen taken by otherwise, healthy people to treat aches and pains. An increased risk of heart related deaths was found in this group.

In an article published in the American Journal of Medicine, 2010 Mar; 123(3):231-7 it was reported that the regular use of aspirin, NSAIDs, or acetaminophen increases the risk of hearing loss in men.

In a 2011 article published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the researchers found that using acetaminophen four times a week or more for four years increased the risk of certain types of blood cancers by 200%.

The FDA is now requiring that prescription medicines that contain acetaminophen, must add the risk of serious skin reactions that can be severe or even fatal, to their labels.

With this in mind, do you really want to be taking any of the drugs mentioned above on an on-going basis?  Do you want to expose your children to these risks when effective and much safer options exist?

There exists substantial clinical (human) data that certain naturally occurring phytochemicals found in specific plants/spices can control and or eliminate pain and inflammation just as well as the drugs discussed above, but most importantly without any of the numerous RISKS that were disclosed in the medical literature.

Natural Ingredients for Migraine, Muscle & Joint Pain

How many of your patients or customers (If you are a pharmacist) chronically administer either NSAIDs or prescription options in attempt to control their pain?

The business of pills for pain, whether over the counter or prescription is staggeringly large.

Millions of patients and sufferers deal chronically with joint pain or headache pain.

The chronic use of analgesics is accompanied by a host of well Known and described health risks and side-effects.

Chronic use of NSAIDs can cause bleeding, ulcers, increased risk of coronary events, liver failure, kidney failure, hemorrhagic stroke and in the case of headaches/migraines, over-use of NSAIDs and prescription acute drugs, an increase in the frequency of headaches referred to as MOH (medication over-use headaches).

Certain of the prescription drugs available to treat migraine pain work by agonizing serotonin receptors and narrowing blood vessels. This mechanism is potentially dangerous to people with coronary artery disease or angina.  Unfortunately, so much of CAD is undiagnosed, making it difficult to measure who truly is at risk.

THE INGREDIENTS:  Ginger, Boswellia, Feverfew, Magnesium

Ginger

A side by side clinical study, published in the Journal of Phytotherapy Research (May 2013) comparing the efficacy and side-effects of the ginger phytochemical component to a popular triptan drug for ablative treatment in chronic migraines sufferers, demonstrated that the  phytochemical was equally as effective in pain reduction or elimination within 2 hours of administration, as the triptan but with little or no side-effects.

Furthermore, the ginger phytochemical demonstrated  a P2Y12 anti-platelet mechanism  with no reported bleeding risk as well as  Cox-1/Cox-2/ 5 Lipooxygenase inhibition  anti-inflammatory mechanisms of action, which distinguished it from NSAIDs. Dual inhibitors of cyclooxygenase and 5-lipoxygenase may have a better therapeutic profile and have fewer side effects than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

In regards to arthritic knee pain, the ginger phytochemical, as a monotherapy, in a randomized clinical trial published in the Journal of Arthritis and Rheumatism Nov. 2001 of 247 arthritis patients with knee pain was found to reduce knee pain in a statistically significant manner. Both knee pain on standing and secondary efficacy variable showed a consistently greater response in the active group. Decreases in the Western Ontario and Mcmaster Universities composite index of approximately 30% were recorded, as did the use of rescue medication in the active ginger group. Mild and transient GI side-effects were higher in the active group.

Finally, in addition to the analgesic benefits of the ginger phytochemical, a clinical study of Type-2 diabetics, published in THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF FOOD SCIENCES AND NUTRITION (Feb. 14, 2013)  demonstrated broad and  substantial glycemic control benefits in type 2 diabetics. Clinically and statistically significant reductions of several markers were reported:

1-     HBa1C (glycated hemoglobin)

2-     Fasting plasma glucose

3-     Insulin levels

4-     Triglycerides

5-     C-reactive protein (an inflammatory marker)

6-     Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2 an inflammatory marker)

Special Aflapin Boswellia Serrata Extract – The Second Antiinflammatory/ Analgesic Phytochemical

Indian frankincense (Boswellia serrate) has been used for centuries to treat arthritis. Some clinical studies support its use in chronic inflammatory diseases likeCrohn’s, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis and bronchial asthma. Boswellia is an excellent alternative to NSAIDs.

The active ingredients are referred to as boswellic acids, with beta boswellic acid being the major component. The absorption of boswellic acids is less than ideal, thereby necessitating processing regimens that enhance their absorption.

Until the advent of Aflapin due to poor absorption of the active boswellic acids, doses of 500-1,500 mg/day were necessary to achieve sufficient analgesic relief.  Because of the patented processing of Aflapin the therapeutic dose is down to 100-200 mg/day.

A randomized, clinical trial examining the efficacy of Aflapin in patients with knee pain, was published in the Int. J. Med. Sci. 2011;8(7):615-22. Epub 2011 Oct 12. .” The subjects received either 100 mg (n=30) of Aflapin(®) or placebo (n=30) daily for 30 days. Each subject was evaluated for pain and physical functions by using the standard tools (visual analog scale, Lequesne’s Functional Index, and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index) at the baseline (day 0), and at days 5, 15 and 30. A series of biochemical tests in serum, urine and hematological parameters established the safety of Aflapin. The observations suggest that Aflapin conferred clinically and statistically significant improvements in pain scores and physical function scores in OA subjects. Aflapin provided significant improvements in pain score and functional ability in as early as 5 days of treatment. In conclusion, our observations suggest that Aflapin is a safe, fast acting and effective alternative intervention in the management of OA.” (A quote from the published paper).

Aflapin provides more potential benefits than other non-enhanced boswellic acid products in recovering articular cartilage damage or protection from proteolytic degradation which occurs in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Combining the Cox-1, Cox-2 inhibition mechanisms of action in the ginger phytochemcical with the 5 lipo-oxygenase inhibition of  Aflapin, creates a unique, and broad acting anti-inflammatory/analgesic, with little side-effects.

Special Super Critical CO2 Feverfew Extract

This specific type of feverfew extract is identified in the American Academy of Neurology’s evidenced-based guideline for migraine prevention.  So what is it doing in a pain/analgesic pill?

The addition of this special feverfew extract adds yet another mechanism of action to the broad therapeutic actions of the new pill. The concept of regulating arthritis at the transcriptional factor level NFkappaB) of gene expression may be more effective than monotherapy at preventing joint cell destruction.

Animal and human ex-vivo studies demonstrate marked suppression of joint destruction in synovial cells of rheumatoid arthritis patients  when parthenolide, one of the active lactones in feverfew was added.. Feverfew robustly inhibited NFkappaB activation and joint destruction in pre-clinical models.

We normally do not add ingredients that don’t yet have clinical data supporting them.  But in the case of parthenolide (feverfew) when coupling the clinical data showing prophylactic efficacy with the potential benefits of NFkappaB inhibition, we decided we needed to include this exciting active ingredient.

Magnesium

Magnesium is perhaps the most essential mineral needed to control inflammation in the body.  It is known that magnesium deficiency leads to increases in inflammatory prostaglandins as well as C-reactive protein and inflammatory conditions deplete magnesium.

Additionally, magnesium antagonizes the NMDA (N-methyl d-aspartate) receptor which is directly involved in the transmission of pain.

Researchers have documented that consumption of less than 50% of the RDA for magnesium doubles the risk of blood vessel, inflammatory damage.

Low magnesium can cause problems with your skeletal muscles, sore muscles, back neck and shoulder pain and headaches. Osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis sufferers are often magnesium deficient.

It is difficult to imagine a broad functioning  analgesic that shouldn’t include magnesium.

The evidence is compelling, for patients and pharmacy customers who are chronically consuming either OTC or prescription pain meds, it’s time to try something healthier.
